There’s An APP For That
ETHS introduces mobile app
Take a break from 2048 to check out ETHS’s new mobile app.
The app, the result of a partnership between the Communications Office and the Instructional and Informational Technology (IIT) Dept., launched in June to a limited audience of students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members.
“The mobile app is a tool that will streamline all of the communication vehicles that we use for the high school,” said Evangeline Semark, Director of Communications. “We surveyed the users in the group, and made some minor changes. But ultimately, the group was really satisfied with their overall experience with the app.”
Notable features on the app include Home Access and Applications, Naviance, school sports news, a CTA bus tracker, the school calendar, and links to the school’s accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as a link to the Evanstonian’s website. In addition, the app provides services for non-students, such as links to the websites of the Alumni Association, the ETHS Education Foundation, and the District 202 School Board.
“Parts of it come from the website, and others come from resources we use online like Home Access Center,” said Semark. “It’s just a way of delivering information to students, parents, staff, and community members in one streamlined device.”
According to Semark, a few high schools in the area have a mobile app, but not many.
“We recognized that students, staff, and parents were using their mobile devices more frequently to get information, and we heard interest from students and parents that they would love to use a mobile app,” said Semark. “I presented at a FASH (Freshman Advisory Study Hall) session, and we surveyed the freshmen, who said that they would want a mobile app.”
The app is available for free at the App Store.
