This year’s Emmy Awards Ceremony showcased new nominees, as well as a multitude of stunning outfits and emotional speeches from some nominees who won their first ever Emmy. Since the first Emmys in 1949, people have tuned in to watch their favorite actors and actresses receive awards celebrating excellence in television. Winning these awards is a great honor, with widespread recognition and praise. This year, there were more than 36 first-time nominees and many had predictions for who would take home the main awards.
It wasn’t surprising that the popular TV show “The Bear” won so many awards, but we were shocked to see it win in the comedy series category. Most viewers consider “The Bear” a drama with a comedy element. It was up against shows such as “Only Murders in the Building”, “Abbott Elementary”, and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” all of which we consider actual comedy series, so we felt that, while “The Bear” definitely deserved awards, it deserved them in the drama category. Placing it in the wrong category didn’t leave room for real comedy series to shine.
Each year, there are many new nominations and winners. Lamorne Morris, who plays the role of Winston in the popular sitcom “New Girl,” won his first Emmy, for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, for his role in “Fargo.” His award was a long time coming. Like many of the men seen at the Emmys, he wore a simple black tuxedo and he was accompanied by his mother to celebrate his nomination, and later, his win.
Celebrities stunned the crowds with their looks on the iconic red carpet. From Ayo Ediribi glowing in her Bottega Veneta dress to Saoirse Ronan in her stunning two-piece Louis Vuitton set, viewers were dazzled by the glamorous attire. Of the many outfits, some stood out to us in particular. Reese Witherspoon’s strapless black Dior dress with the subtle gold floral pattern was ravishing, and her simple necklace was beautiful but didn’t overpower the rest of her outfit. Dakota Fanning turned heads with the combination of the class of her dress, a gold, strapless, floor-length gown, embroidered with white pearls and the simplicity of her hair and makeup.
Alluring outfits, speeches, first-time wins and more all make up the Emmys Awards. There were many outstanding nominees this year, and everyone had a fighting chance for the win. The wide array of categories, nominees, and outfits made it a ceremony worth watching.
