Is it, in fact, time?
Unlike other holidays which last only a day, increasingly, the holidays in December seem to belong to more of a season than anything. And unlike these single-day holidays, there’s not a specific beginning or end. So when does the holiday season start? We left it up to you, the students of ETHS, to decide once and for all if it is finally time to get holly, perhaps even jolly, or, if this is the year without holiday cheer.
***When we say the “holiday season” that is the general merry spirit that encompasses December and is universal. This can include (but is not limited to) Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hannukah, etc. The “holiday spirit” is a feeling not a holiday.
Here’s what students have to say:
The Holiday season starts after Thanksgiving. My family gets our Christmas tree on the Sunday before Cyber Monday. Also, that’s when December starts and the weather gets cold for the Holidays
-Zach Brosnan
The holiday season is the best time of the year, and I think everyone should start celebrating the day after Thanksgiving.
-Will Reno
In my opinion, the holiday season always starts after Thanksgiving. It’s of mass importance to me that we don’t overlook Thanksgiving and that it gets the respect it deserves. The holiday season truly never ends, but the peak of it is right after Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, you can start celebrating whatever holiday you celebrate.
-Ian Pavich
I think that It’s very hard to wait for the holiday season to come but as soon as Thanksgiving is over you can start playing Christmas music. It’s time.
-Cat Johnson
Christmas starts when I hear Mariah Carey for the first time. If that’s in summer, so be it. I’m celebrating Christmas for six months.
-Tristan Bond
