ETHS continues the memory of Dajae Coleman
The Dajae Coleman foundation will host its third annual DaeDaeWorld Weekend to commemorate the third anniversary of ETHS student, Dajae Coleman’s death.
Dajae was a model student and a star athlete, who at the early age of 14, was gunned down a block away from the high school.
Next Friday, Sept. 25, the weekend will kick off with a Family Fun Night and a Community & Family Info Fair. Both the Family Fun Night and the Info Fair will take place at the Fleetwood Community Center 1655 Foster St. in Evanston. These activities will include skating, music, pizza, arts and crafts and will also give you the opportunity to find out more about community organizations.
At the high school starting at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, The Challenge: Evanston will begin. The Challenge has been a favorite of many students since its debut last year and will include “challenges that will test your mental and physical agility”.
This event will be followed up by an E-Town Ballers Basketball Game at 3 p.m. where people can come watch DaeDae’s Disciples and Team Old School battle it out on the court in order to win. Tickets for the game will be sold at the door and are $5.00 or $3.00 with a student ID.
All of the profits from DaeDaeWorld Weekend go to the foundation, which is geared toward uplifting, encouraging and empowering the Evanston youth.
Coleman’s death left the entire community in shock. This weekend aims to honor Dajae in the light and help his memory live on forever. To learn more about The Dajae Coleman Foundation or to register for a DaeDaeWorld weekend event visit dc3f.org.
Your donation will support the student journalists of the Evanstonian. We are planning a big trip to the Journalism Educators Association conference in Philadelphia in November 2023, and any support will go towards making that trip a reality. Contributions will appear as a charge from SNOSite. Donations are NOT tax-deductible.
