August:

Protests in Ferguson, Missouri erupt after the death of an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, by a white police officer.

2015

January:

Syrian refugee crisis worsens as more countries, specifically in Europe, block immigration from millions fleeing from war in their homeland.

June:

The Supreme Court declares same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.

2016

January: 

Obama signs an order to help Flint due to its intensifying water crisis as more residents find lead in their water supply.

April:

Students plant cameras to expose safety officer stealing from lockers. #StickyFingers.

June:

Mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida leaves almost 50 killed and 53 others wounded.

November: 

Donald Trump elected as President of the United States.

2017

January:

ETHS approves a resolution aimed at protecting undocumented students.

January:

Trump bans entry for  citizens from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

May:

School board passes policy allowing transgender students to use the locker room that corresponds to the gender they identify with.

September:

Colin Kaepernick kneels during the national anthem to show support for people of color oppressed in the United States.

2018

February:

Black Panther is the highest-grossing solo Superhero movie in the Marvel franchise.

March: 

ETHS students joined the students from Parkland and to protest gun violence and advocate for gun reform.

April: 

Kendrick Lamar’s album DAMN. awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music.
