D202 School Board names Principal Marcus Campbell as ETHS’ new superintendent
On Thursday, April 21, the District 202 School Board held a special meeting to announce ETHS’ new superintendent and principal, set to begin for the 2022-2023 school year.
Following the announcement of Superintendent Eric Witherspoon’s retirement in late September, ETHS began the process of looking for someone to fill the position. This process was conducted through the work of a third party, Alma Advisory Group. Throughout the year, the advising firm held focus group discussions with students, teachers and community members to hear what they were looking for in a superintendent.
After months of research and interviews, and, with much anticipation, the D202 school board concluded their search and announced Marcus Campbell to fill the role of superintendent. Campbell has been working at ETHS since 2001, and he has previously served as both the assistant superintendent and principal as well as English teacher.
Campbell is set to assume the role as superintendent beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
