As you enter an ETHS football game, students are covered in orange and blue cheering on their team in unison. Hands decorating the stands while students are yelling out their favorite chants in unison. The culture of school spirit has been an attraction for Evanstonians for many years. ETHS’s very own Kit Pit has raised the standard of what school spirit has been in the past..
Kit Pit was originally created ETHS quarterback by Colin Livatino along with his fellow senior co-founders, Chris Fargo and Josephine Teoudoussia, Livatino shares insights on his experiences with Kit Pit.
“I created Kit Pit with the help of Josie and Chris our sophomoreyear and I feel that it’s really taken off from there. We’ve gained a heck of a lot of social media attention with the help of Josie especially,” said Livatino
The team of 3 have built a Kit Pit board consisting of sophomores, juniors and seniors who showcase sportsmanship, leadership and school spirit. The Kit Pit founders and board have made it their mission to increase student body management at school events and activities.
Since COVID, school spirit at ETHS hasn’t been the same but Kit Pit is making it their mission to continuously bring back more spirit for students and staff on and off the stands. Kit Pit’s presence on social media platforms and at school events is engaging students of all ages at ETHS, making them want to show out for the WildKits.
Founder Colin Livatino is enthusiastic about where Kit Pit is today and how it will grow throughout his final year here at ETHS,“Before Kit Pit was created we never seemed to have engaged crowds and definitely not as big but having a section like ours was last night (Home Opener vs. St Laurence) really motivates us on the field.”
Kit Pit has also been a large part of senior activities, helping organize and communicate for the 2025 class. Prior to the Home Opener on Friday the 6th, ETHS seniors gathered at Mason Park and gathered as a community to do body painting in orange and blue. Senior Norah Wolf attended the body painting and truly felt at one with the community.
“I feel it represented our community as a grade because we hung out with new people. It was a chance to make new connections as seniors.”
The birth of Kit Pit is something that the ETHS community is being largely impacted by. This is just the beginning of the E-Town community coming together once again.
All grades are encouraged to follow @ethskitpit on Instagram to participate with the ETHS orange and blue spirit!
