The closing of the Celtic Knot Public House on Church Street in April 2023 left many Evanston residents with heavy hearts. For 18 years, the pub, owned by Liz and Patrick Breslin, had been a cherished gathering place for locals, known for its welcoming atmosphere and sense of community.
“I was heartbroken when they shut down,” says Karen Thomson, a long-time Evanston resident. “My family had so many memories there. It was a place that really brought people together.”
The news of its closing seemed like the end of an era, but the Celtic Knot Public House has found new life on Central Street. “I’m thrilled that they’re back,” Thomson added.
“We have spent many, many years involved in restaurants and bars and enjoy working together with our Knot family to help create a welcoming, warm and authentic pub experience,” Celtic Knot Public House’s website says. They have reopened on 2022 Central St.
