Girls gymnastics ends with strong regional meet
Despite a new coach, a new team, and new routines, girls gymnastics put up strong performances in their season-ending conference and regional meets.
“Teaching the discipline of being on a varsity team has been the most challenging part of having such a young, new varsity team this year,” said coach Meghan Koons.
The girls earned 5th place at conference with a score of 112.35.
At regionals, the girls went up against schools like Stevenson, Roycemore, Lake Forest and Carmel. They placed fourth with a season-best 119.05 points.
Junior Hillary Vickman had a strong regional perfmance, putting up an impressive 7.9 on the bars.
“Girls have really been getting their skills that they have been working on in practice, and have been carrying them out at meets,” said Koons “This is the first time I’ve seen this in the seven years that I’ve been here.”
